The details, in plain language

Cookies & browser storage

The small things your browser remembers to keep Menuelo useful.

Last updated

1. What we use

Cookies are small values saved by your browser and sent with requests to the service. Local storage keeps preferences on your device. Menuelo currently uses these technologies for sign-in, restaurant selection and menu preferences, rather than advertising or tracking you across unrelated websites.

2. Sign-in cookie

mw_session keeps you signed in to your Menuelo account. It is a signed cookie with a maximum lifetime of 30 days, is restricted from access by page scripts, and is sent over HTTPS in production. Signing out removes it. Without it, you cannot remain signed in to the dashboard.

3. Restaurant selection cookie

mw_loc remembers the restaurant you are editing when you switch locations in your account. It can last for up to one year. Menuelo checks that you own the selected restaurant before allowing access; the cookie alone does not grant permission.

4. Guest menu preferences

mw-filter:[restaurant slug] in local storage remembers allergy and diet filters and the display preference you select for a public menu. It stays in that browser until you clear site data or it is otherwise removed. These preferences are applied on the device and are not submitted to Menuelo as a guest health profile.

5. Other providers

Our hosting and security providers may use technical information needed to deliver and protect the service. Stripe's separately hosted Checkout and billing portal may use storage under Stripe's own policies. Our current site does not run advertising pixels or optional marketing analytics.

6. Your choices

You can clear cookies and local storage or block cookies in your browser's site settings. Clearing sign-in cookies signs you out; clearing local storage resets remembered menu filters. Blocking essential cookies may prevent account features from working.

If we introduce optional tracking that requires a choice under applicable law, we will provide that choice before using it. See the Privacy Policy for other data use, or contact us with a question.
